3 Bullet Points to Understanding Solar Lighting

January 12, 2009 at 10:44 pm Leave a comment

Here’s a quick bit of information on how solar lighting works, with a more in depth explanation to follow:

  • There are rechargeable batteries inside the fixture
  • These rechargeable batteries are charged each day as the solar panel gets energy from the sun
  • At night, when the panel is not effected by solar energy, the lights automatically go on, and are powered by the rechargeable batteries

Two quick things that may stick out as you read this:

  1. Light must necessarily be bright to charge the batteries.  It is definitely the case that the more direct sunlight your solar panel can get, the brighter your light will be that night.
  2. The lights go on automatically when the panel does not sense solar energy.  This brings us to a good point about solar lights…that the less ambient light your lights are affected by at night, the better.

Hope this helps.  More information and a good amount of products can be found at YCA Solar Light Store.
